BioHello! My name is Olivia. I am 20 years old, and live in Ohio, USA with my family.
Interests: I love history, and fantasy, fairy tales and myths and poetry. My hobbies are writing (fiction and poetry), drawing and painting, video games, listening to music, reading, sewing, embroidery, crochet and various other crafts. I also just discovered Dagorhir, and am hoping to get into it this year!
About me: Although I tend towards sharpness and sarcasm at times, inside I am very soft-hearted. I find it difficult to keep from being overcome by the ugliness, mundaness and cruelty of the world. To keep from being overwhelmed by the sorrows of life, I look for the beauty in it, and so I try to surround myself, inside and out, with things I find beautiful, no matter how strange, or wildly different they might be. This is what drew me to lolita fashion!
About lolita: Although I like anime and manga (and attend conventions) as well as a lot of Japanese music, video games, movies etc. I actually found lolita through a completely unrelated route. One day I was flipping through a travel magazine of my mother's and stumbled across a now-famous shot from Fruits. Fascinated by the magazine's description of Japan's outlandish street fashion, I started looking into it, and discovered lolita fashion. It was love at first sight. The look combined my favorite historical fashions from the Victorian era and the 18th century, as well as that dollish "princess" look I had loved as a little girl, but it wasn't so extreme that I couldn't wear it on the street. I followed the fashion for many years and watched it evolve over time, but since I lived in the US, had very little money, and was plus sized I didn't think it was a very realistic fashion for me. It wasn't until 2007, when I discovered Princess Skye's writings, and eventually the Princess Portal, that I was inspired to really pursue the fashion and the lifestyle.
